About Me

I am Chris Johnson from Eau Claire, Wisconsin. I have been developing web applications since 2003. I am currently in my fifth year at the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire, majoring in Information Systems. Transferring to UWEC from the University of Wisconsin Stout this fall,  I expect to graduate in December of 2008.

At UW-Stout I gained experience in the area of web development with my role in the S.T.A.R. Development Center (SDC). S.T.A.R., Student Technological Assistance and Resources, a student run division of the telecommunication and networking department. S.T.A.R. includes areas such as, campus computer labs and help-desks.  I worked with the STAR director, UW-Stout CIO and my supervisor to create the STAR Development Center to address the need for an on campus web development team.

While creating the SDC I applied knowledge learned in a classroom setting in practical situations.  I in turn used my job experience in class discussions relating to situations I had faced as Student Manager of the SDC.

Currently at UWEC I am a member of the Learning Technology Services (LTS) Web Development Team.  This has given me an opportunity to learn a new language along with joining a new work environment. My new position has given me the opportunity to again work on applications from the ground up.

Along with work and learning I still enjoy many hobbies and volunteer in the community.  Beginning my third year as, coach of the Eau Claire Youth Hockey High School C team, I have the opportunity to give back to the association that gave me so much growing up.  I also enjoy photography and am a member of the Beaver Creek Reserve Photo Club.  When I'm not taking pictures or playing hockey I enjoy spending time with my Fiancee and our puppy.
